Aleksandar Kolarov, nicknamed the 'Serbian Roberto Carlos', joined City from Lazio in July 2010.
Despite playing at left-back, the 24 year-old Serb has reputation for spectacular goals and had been linked with a move to Real Madrid before opting for Blues.
Born in November 1985 in Belgrade, Kolarov began his career in 2004 at FK Cukaricki Stankom before moving to OFK Beograd in 2006, both in his homeland, Serbia.
In September 2007, after only one season at OFK Beograd, Kolarov was sold to Serie A giants Lazio where he made an instant impression, scoring a 40-yard thunderbolt on his full debut against Reggina.
During his career at Stadio Olimpico, he became renowned for his long-range specials. He is versatile, too, and can slot into midfield if neccessary, where his physical strength and technique make him a useful option.
Kolarov registered 82 appearances in the Serbian SuperLiga and 82 with Lazio in Serie A. He has also picked up valuable experience playing in the Champions League during his time in Italy.
Kolarov was capped twice during Serbia’s 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign, including an appearance in the 1-0 victory over Germany, bringing his total of international appearances to 15 by the end of the tournament.
